The University of Nairobi hosted former Judge and incumbent president of the Republic of Italy His Excellency Sergio Mattarella for a public lecture on Climate change. 20 Kenyatta University students drawn from the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and KUNEC members drawn from all schools in the University were invited to join other students In what promises to be an illuminating discourse on a key issue in the global arena, president Sergio Mattarella delivered his address to over 500 students and delegates from all over the country at the iconic Taifa Hall at the University of Nairobi, main campus on Thursday, March 16th 2023 as from 9 am. In his address, President Mattarella shared his perspectives on the serious need for governments and the International Community to prioritize climate change in their actions and policy decisions with the central role of youth. The address comes as Kenya and the world at large grapples severe drought which is currently revenging the whole country and other effects of climate change and unreliable weather patterns in most areas of the country. Again the students highly appreciated the gesture accorded to them by the University and welcomed similar gesture in the future.
