Outreach activities are designed to help the school of Agriculture and E1nvironmental Sciences connect with and support specific groups of people by providing information, resources, or services. They involve community events like cleanup activities, visitation to children’s and the elderly homes social media campaigns, partnerships with local organizations, and more. These activities aim to create awareness, build relationships, and ultimately, empower communities. Recently, the School of Agriculture and environmental Sciences students in conjunction with Kenyatta University Environmental Club (KUNEC) organized three outreach activities including Tree planting and excursion in Thogoto forest where they planted 200 indigenous tree seedlings to assist the community in restoring the forest lost glory.

To reach out to the less fortunate, they visited Mwihoko children’s home, where they donated clothes, assorted foods and drinks, sanitary items and helped in cleaning and clearing bush around the home.

Further they joined hands with other stakeholders in Gitoro Primary school in North Imenti Sub County, Meru County, Kenya for a tree planting exercise where they planted 500 tree seedlings and had a fruitful talk with the Pupils and the parents on educational matters. They also visited Gatongora Primary School in Ruiru Sub County, Kiambu County, Kenya for tree planting exercise, where close to 1,000 tree seedlings were planted and had an open discussion and interaction with the Pupils.

The Kenyatta University Environmental Club as it is their yearly tradition celebrated their 33rd Green week on 14th March, 2025 under the theme ‘‘Empowering Youth on inclusive climate Change Solutions and Resilience’’. Other activities to mark the day included; Panel discussions, Climate change debate, Mazingira Challenge, the national rivers day conference and a walk around the University to sensitize other students on climate change and climate issues which culminated at planting 200 assorted indigenous tree seedlings at ole Moiyoi grounds.
